voters day
Department of social
sciences organized awareness programme
on voters day on 25th january 2018 . As a part of programme we had Mr.Emmanela who
gave a talk on Importance of vote Mrs .
R.Chittemma and Ms. Y . Sailaja organized the event meaningfully . The student took oath that they would exercise their
franchise and electe
a good government . Dr.sr. Mercy
principal also advised to
the students to enroll their
names in the voters list and secured the
power to make a better government . And also conducted elocution competition
on 25th January on
“the importance of right to vote in democratic countries” .
ETHNIC WEEK CELEBRATIONS

of Constitution day the members of social sciences Mrs.R.Chittemma and Y.sailaja organized the Constitution day
. All the BA students were participated in this programme . inaugural address

in Economics . Mrs.R.Chittemma and Y.sailaja conducted the elocution competition topic on “Indian Constitution “.

Community Services
REPORT
OF GOVT.BOYS CHILDREN HOME, SANIVARAPUPET
On 20th November 2017 was a day of celebration with the
children of Govt. Boys Children Home, Sanivarapupet, Eluru. The Department of
Psychology and Social Work has decided to spent a day with children. So, they
encourage the students of E.P.SW to be with the children on that day with the theme of SUPADAM – Positive Attitude
and Behavioural Modification. The students were guided and lead by Dr.Sr.Marietta
D’Mello, Ms.S. Surekha and Ms.G.Radha Lakshmi.
Dr.Sr.Marietta D’Mello has delivered a mesmerizing message on positive
attitude saying “ the happiness within us makes our actions, words and deeds
happy in return we be happy and makes there happy.” Later, students moved on to
perform dance and moral skits on the theme of SUPADAM (The Good Way) to
entertain the children and then students encourage the children by conducting
some games, the children from 1 to 10 standard were participated actively and
won the prizes. The prizes were distributed to the winners by Mr.Madhusudhana
Rao, Superindendent of Govt. Boys Children Home. The children were enriched by
program and spent a moments of happiness and joy on that day.

Education Day

On 11th
November, the department of Social Sciences organized a programme on the
occasion of National Education Day. Mrs. Brahmeswari spoke about the History of
Indian education system, past glories of Guptha period and development of
education during British period and Independent India. She also spoke about the
life and contribution of Sri Maulaana Abul Kalam Azad, the first education
minister to the arena of education in India
Legal
Awareness Programme
Venue: Multi Purpose Hall Time: 9.30-11.30 Date 10-11-2017
The Department of
Social Sciences conducted an awareness Programme in collaboration with the
Department of legal services, West Godavari District. Mrs. D.Brahmeswari,
H.O.D., Social Sciencs, spoke about the importance of awareness of legal
aspects in prevention of atrocities against women. Leading lawyers of the town,
sri Kuna Krishna Rao, Sri Venkateswara Rao, Smt. Kanaka Maha Lakshmi, and Mrs.
Nagalakshmi spoke on the legal services
provided. Civil judge miss K.Sailaja, legal services officer, enlightened the
students about different procedures in vogue for legal protection. Principal
Dr.Sr. Mercy spoke about importance of knowledge orientation for youth in legal
aspects. The programme was conducted by the department of Politics, Mrs.
R.Chittemma and Miss Y. Sailaja.
Legal rally COMMUNITY SERVICE
The students of social
sciences participated in the Rally which was conducted by the legal services
Authority of West Godavary district. Mrs. R.Chittemma and Miss Y.Sailaja,
lecturers in the Department of Politics took the students for the Rally. The
students succeeded in creating an awareness about legal services available in
the society
Community Services
Leadership Training camp
Under the organization of department of social
sciences a two day leadership Training camp was conducted on 9th 10th
August ,2017 . The camp was sponsored by Forum of Free
Enterprises Mumbai and M.R Pai
Foundation Mumbai .The programme started with inauguration which started
with a prayer service mother Ernestine ,superior and correspondent
congratulated participants for coming over to get the training . principal Dr. Sr. Mercy motivated the
students about the need of student leadership in the society . Mrs
.D.Brahmeswari head of the department spoke on the aims and objectives of the
programme. Two resource persons from
Mumbai Mr. Sachin Kamanth and Mrs
.Clarissa Jathana conducted session to
the students on time management ,Goal setting ,positive thinking, inter
personal relation and personality development
National
spirit week celebrations
The department of
social sciences conducted National Spirit week celebrations in the college from
11th to 16th 2017 .
On 11th and 12th Mrs.
D.Brahmeswari gave to talk on the causes for national movement and the
different phases of national movement. On 13th Mrs. D.Brahmeswari spoke on the
conditions leading to the Quit India movement and the sacrifice of
late freedom fighters to achieve
swaraj . On 15th Mrs.
D.Brahmeswari participated in the flag hoisting celebrations of the college as
guest of honour and spoke on the participation of women in National movement.
The Flag was hoisted by Mrs. Major Celine Rose , lecturer in physical education
. The department of Telugu and Hindi conducted an exhibition of photos from
national movement with a photo exhibition in Arts department
Voter
awareness program
Department
of social sciences organized a program in the multipurpose on 22nd
July about voter enrollment drive- Eluru M.R.O Sri Chandra Sekhar Rao spoke on
the responsibilities of youth towards a civil society. Mrs. D. Brahmeswari
spoke on the importance of political awareness in democracy. Principal DR.sr
mercy motivated the students about enrolling as a voter as a basic
responsibility of a good citizen. The program was coordinated by Mrs.
R.Chittemma and miss y. Sailija lecturer’s in political science
World population day 2017-18
The department of social sciences organized world population day under the
guidance of Dr.P.Ratna Mary and
K.Nagamani on 11-07-2017 . The students of III. B.A HEP
EM&TM presented a programme, a
panel discussion about the importance of
world population day and created
awareness on the causes and the ill effects of over population . The students also suggested a few
remedies like family planning. They
suggested that family should have child birth by choice but not by chance. They
advocated that two children is a company
and three is a crowd. Over
population affects all aspects of human life and environment and pointed out
that China and India should take immediate
measures to stop this population explosion .
NATIONAL SPIRIT WEEK CELEBRATIONS
Azadi 70–yaad karo Qurbani -16-8-2016 to 23-8-2016
The department of Social Sciences conducted week long celebrations of National spirit on the occasion of 70th year of independence .
2.LEADERSHIP CAMP
Leadership training camp for college students was organized by the department of social sciences, Ch.S.D.St.Theresa’s autonomous college, Eluru This programme was sponsored by M. R. Pai foundation, Mumbai and Forum of Free Enterprises, Mumbai
The department of Social Sciences in collaboration with the Forum of Free Enterprizes is organizing the leadership training camp for the past 15 years. Nearby local colleges deputed their students as participants in the programme. The student participants from outside colleges are from The S.K.S.D.Mahila Kalasala, Tanuku, Sir C.R.R.Autonomous College of Arts and Sciences Eluru, The Government Degree College Eluru and St DePaul Degree College from Pinakadimi. The target group were 70 students and 40 attended from Ch.S.D.St.Theresa’s Autonomous College Eluru

21st June 2016 yoga day organized Miss .G.Vijaya ratna Kumari gave
training to the students on yoga practices. A group of 1000 students

. National youth day
The department of Social Sciences has inaugurated an innovative programme of Community Service for all the final year BA students from 17th October to 27th October 2016. Two schoolswere selected for the community service visits for the students. The Venkata Maruthi Elementary Primary School of Ameenapet, Asoknagar and Special Nagara Palika Pradhamika Pathasala of reserve police line were selected as target units. In the Ameenapet School 45 Children are studying and in the Police line school 65 children are studying in the age groups of 5 to 10 years. The school head master and head mistress of both schools welcomed the initiate taken by the department of social sciences, Ch.S.D.St.Theresa’s Autonomous College for Women .
